Joyce was born in Tapachula, Chiapas. She grew up in Houston, Texas (where she found her love for horses on her family’s ranch). She was an equestrian for most of her childhood years and participated in the Houston Rodeo parade with her family.

She studied at New Mexico State University where she earned both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Communication Studies. She then later attended Veterinary school at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her clinical rotations at Louisiana State University in 2018.

Dr. Liy is passionate about promoting optimal health in pets with holistic therapies in addition to traditional veterinary medicine. She looks forward to working with pet parents to offer their pets a new, more complete approach to wellness.

In addition to her DVM, Dr. Liy is a certified veterinary acupuncturist and certified veterinary food therapist through the Chi University.
